It’s also been decades since people have talked about flying cars. Auto manufacturer Hyundai has collaborated with Uber to create electric flying taxis for a future aerial ride share network and unveiled a new full-scale aircraft concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The air vehicle designed and revealed by Hyundai is called model S-A1, 100% electric vehicle that can reach speeds of up to 180 miles per hour and travel distances of more than 62 miles. Hyundai and Uber intend to hire pilots first, but will try to automate as they go along.
It’d be great to see this happen. In this partnership Hyundai will handle hardware – production and deployment of air vehicle, while Uber will handle software including support for managing airspace, help connecting customer to ground transportation, and designing user interface for the aerial ride share network.
